Project objectives
The Back to Normal project addressed the long-term physical and psychological effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly among vulnerable groups such as young adults and senior citizens.
Project objectives
Provide educational tools to help individuals cope with everyday stress, grief, and anxiety caused by the pandemic.
Develop a non-formal learning program based on storytelling, enabling individuals to process traumatic experiences, regain a sense of control, and build resilience for the future.
Empower adult educators with innovative methods to help vulnerable groups, using storytelling and narrative therapy as tools to foster psychological healing
Project results
The storytelling methodology developed during the project became a powerful tool for participants to reflect on their experiences during the pandemic. By telling their stories, participants were able to organize their thoughts, share their feelings, and find meaning in their experiences of loss and disruption.
The project facilitated the sharing of diverse stories—ranging from the everyday struggles of lockdowns to stories of resilience, compassion, and survival—helping participants distance themselves from their trauma and find opportunities for personal growth.
Storytelling helped participants make sense of their past, providing them with the distance necessary to envision a better future. This process of reflecting on traumatic events fostered resilience and promoted long-term psychological well-being.
By creating a platform for sharing both personal and collective experiences, the project contributed to rebuilding social connections that had been severely disrupted by the pandemic. Participants from different social groups—including healthcare workers, educators, and everyday citizens—shared their unique perspectives, helping foster empathy and mutual understanding.
This project underscores the critical role of storytelling in healing from trauma, promoting resilience, and reconnecting individuals with their sense of identity and purpose after the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
